An Announcement About Music Class
Hello, friends! I wanted to reach out to you about music class and what the plan is over the next several weeks.
First, I think the easiest thing to do at this point is to follow the lead of the play spaces. So, if Share.the.Love Kidsclub in Conway and The Wonder Place in Little Rock are open, we will hold class. If they close, that will cancel class. To that end, as of today, classes will run as scheduled next week. We are in our final week of the STICKS collection, so we will finish that off next week. We will then be off for a two week break before the MARACAS collection starts the week of April 6th. This will give us some time to decide what to do moving forward.
Second, I want to assure you that all the props and instruments being used in class are being washed and sanitized after each use. This is what normally happens... nothing has really changed there. Additionally, many of you may not know this, but my family has been in the air purification business for twenty years. My dad, Doug Hoffman, has become a leading expert in the indoor air quality industry and is up-to-date with the best practices for indoor air quality issues related to mold, bacteria, and viruses. This being the case, over the years, we have partnered with manufacturing companies to create an incredible air purifier meant to be proactive in cleaning the air and surfaces. I will be bringing one of these machines to class in order to add another layer of protection during this health crisis.
Finally, I want to share with you what I am offering for the Spring MARACAS semester. Usually, a semester runs for 10 weeks, but due to a variety of factors, we will only be offering seven weeks this time around. A $50 deposit will hold your spot in class and give you the materials for the new semester, including a songbook and downloads of all the songs. The rest of the class will run week-by-week for $10/child/week. If the play spaces are open and we have class, you will be charged for that week. If we have to close for any reason and classes are not offered, you will not be charged. For those of you who have already paid in full, a credit will be issued to you for use during the fall semester, or I can refund you the money, if necessary.
I know things are crazy at the moment and very uncertain. The plan may change over the next days and weeks as new information is available. Please contact me with questions or comments. I honestly want to know your opinions as we move forward so I can make the best decision for my community of moms, dads, grands, and littles. I love making music with you all each week, and I hope this can be a bright, shiny spot in your week through these tough times.
As a side note, the Canta y Baila Classes are being discontinued after March 20th until further notice. Our fabulous teacher, Yidzza Pou, is moving to Michigan with her family in May. She has been a bright light in our community, and she will be missed!
Thank you so much for your patience as we all navigate these crazy times together. It's times like this when I am thankful for a wonderful community like this to pull together and have grace for one another. I know this won't last forever. Hang in there, Mamas!
Thinking of you all!
